Eating Right to Lose Weight

It doesn’t research studies to prove that more and more people are getting overweight. Anyone can see this by walking around the neighborhood. The person can also see if the person has a problem by looking in the mirror or stepping on a weighing scale.

There are many ways to change this. The person can take pills or supplements. Enrolling in an exercise program can also help. But if the root cause of this is simply overeating, then the best solution is cut down in the food intake.

Going on a diet does not mean giving up some of life’s pleasures. It just means eating less of the certain thing or consuming it in moderation since a good and balanced diet comes from all the food groups.

There have been many kinds of diet programs that have been used through the years. A few examples are; the Atkin’s Diet in 1972, Protein Power in 1995, the Schwarzbein Principle in 1999, Life without Bread in 2000 and the South Beach Diet in 2003.

All of these methods encourage the person to eat right. Since eating too many carbohydrates seem to be the root cause of being overweight, having a low carb diet and eating in small servings will eventually make weight loss happen.

The body is composed of nutrients. This is in the form of carbohydrates, fat and protein. This comes from food that is eaten and the first that is always tapped by the body for energy is carbohydrates. By having a diet plan that focuses more of protein and fat, stored fat in the body is burned thus making a person lose weight.

One study demonstrated that it is easier to lose weight using a low carb diet compared to one that is low fat. The results of the study showed that those who followed a low carb diet were able to lose more pounds compared to those who participated in a low fat diet. This approach can also lower the level of bad cholesterol in the body keeping the first healthy.

The low carb diet program focuses more on protein for the person to lose weight. Though some doctors have already expressed concern that this could do some damage to the health of the bone in the long run due to an increase in the amount of calcium in ones system. Other doctors claim that by taking away most of the fiber in food, this could lead to complications in the liver or kidney as well as heart disease. None of these have proven to be true.

Dieting compared to other weight loss programs does not have any side effects that are commonly found in taking diet pills. In fact, most people feel that it works very well with exercise in losing weight.

Should the person decide to try it, consulting the doctor or dietitian will be good in order to make a balanced program. The ideal program should have all the vitamins and minerals from all the food groups. A good breakfast can be made of fruits and cereals. Lunch can have some green leaves with a little meat in it. Dinner can be done with some fish and vegetables.

The person can play with this in many ways. In fact, there are books and articles on the internet that can teach how to cook and serve this for people who want to go on a diet.
