Fit for Fat

Gone were the days when in describing body weight, the choices were thin or fat. Now, growing numbers of individuals who are over weight plus the risk factors involved with being so is becoming a hot item of attention; so much so that studies will tell you that the rising occurrences of being over weight is now in the scale of epidemic proportions. As the attention on the alarming incidences of being over weight increases, more and more findings and breakthroughs are coming to fore.

Big. Bigger. Biggest.

For instance, there are now classifications on being over weight depending on the level of how one tips the scale. The three classifications are over weight, obese and morbidly obese. It’s no wonder that this topic continues to garner attention because the health risks related to being over weight are truly alarming. Aside from high blood pressure and cardio-vascular diseases, there are also reported incidences of cancers such as breast and colon problems and gall stones that afflict such individuals.

Un-pretty

If the high risks of health problems refuse to daunt, there is also a persistent risk of stigma put on an over weight person as the media continuously proliferates the common consciousness with images of completely svelte individuals. Not a single over weight person is seen in advertisements or popular shows and films, making the stark truth of the problem of obesity a seemingly fictitious deal. It is indeed fictitious to those who don’t realize that more than half the population of the United States are over weight. In the mind of the over weight though, the problem is far from imagined as health issues are a constant plague coupled with the aspiration to be part of the American dream of being blonde, blue-eyed and slim.

A Bulging Market

Because of these facts, drug manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to solve this dilemma. They have realized that the current statistics of over weight individuals translate not only to a growing number of disgruntled individuals looking for a way to regain health and self-esteem, but the numbers translate into a hefty sum of sales as well.

Fact or Fiction

Given this monetary incentive, there is a strong and steady explosion of prescription drugs in the market that all claim to be the panacea of over weight problems. Each and every manufactured drug declare themselves to be the indispensable ally in combating excess pounds. All of these drugs claim to be researched intensively combined with the countless toiling of doctors, scientists and chemists.

No pain. All gain.

Open any printed literature for mass consumption and you will be assaulted by a barrage of miracle fat burners that claim to be the answer to all the problems of an over weight individual. Just pop a pill and one can shed the excess pounds in an unbelievably short period of time. No diets. No exercise.

Slow and steady.

But no matter how tempting these marketing efforts are, if you are over weight, be sure to consult your physician for a safe and sure way to lose weight. There are actually a couple of prescription drugs that are FDA approved and will work combined with behavior modification, a sensible diet, an exercise plan, a set goal and reasonable expectations. Remember that if indeed the no diet and exercise pills do work, you can be sure that it is not safe to lose weight that way. The only true way to loss weight safely and keep it off is through actual prescribed FDA approved drugs and some effort on your part.
