FAT: FACT AND FICTION
If you are over weight like over half the population of the United States, then chances are you have or are in the process of trying out one of the many weight loss products and programs out there in the market. The weight loss industry is growing as fast as the waistlines of average people everywhere and the miracle product to surpass all products for weight loss keeps propping up every so often.
Unfortunately, people who are over weight and unhappy about it fall for these misleading marketing efforts, time and time again. Looking for a quick fix, over weight people buy into the false claims of slimming product marketing and expect rapid weight less with very little or no effort.
Rapid weight loss means rapid weight gain.
The thing is, losing weight is not the same as getting fit. And perhaps at this point, disgruntled and feeling hopeless, it’s easier for you just take what you can and try out slimming products that promote rapid weight loss despite knowing it’s not ideal for being healthy, fit and eventually keeping the weight off. Perhaps you’re thinking, “Who cares if it’s healthy? I can care about health when I’ve lost the excess pounds I need to shed.” Sadly, if you continue to think this way, you will find yourself constantly out there looking for the next best thing our in the market because rapid weight loss is not only unhealthy, it’s also unsustainable. Even worse is that you may find yourself in worse shape than when you started on a product or program that promised rapid weight loss.
To diet or not to diet, that is the question.
And the answer is, not to go on a traditional low calorie diet. These traditional diets may result in initial rapid weight loss but at the expense of losing muscle over fat. So it is true that you will be losing weight rapidly with traditional diets but you don’t actually want to lose weight. You want to lose fat.
Again, you may not really care what you lose, whether fat or muscle, as long as the scale tells you, you’re losing weight. But you actually should care because loss in muscle tissue means a loss in the metabolic rate of the body or simply put, your body’s ability to turn food into energy instead of fat. So that, when you’ve lost weight and you decide to go back to your old eating habits, your body’s resistance to fat production is greatly diminished than when you first started on the diet. What’s worse is that a loss in muscle tissue also results in more physical fatigue, which promotes even more, laziness and a sedentary lifestyle that got you over weight in the first place.
Pump it up.
The best way to achieve weight loss is through the proper mental disposition, a healthy diet an achievable and proper exercise. Yes, this won’t result in rapid weight loss but it will result in a healthier and sustainable way to lose excess fat, gain muscle and keep fit enough to keep the weight off.
You can’t believe in quick fixes of weight loss because it didn’t take you over night to gain weight as well. There is no magical formula. There’s only science and logic that works and you can count on.
